Today I am going to be talking about how helicopters work. Helicopters work because there is less air pressure on top of the wing, this causes suction and makes the wing move up. A helicopter's rotor blades are wings and create lift. An airplane must fly fast to move enough air over its wings to provide lift. A helicopter moves air over its rotor by spinning its blades. A helicopter steers by tilting the swash plate which changes the pitch of the blades to provide forward, backward and side to side lift. Here is a video that you can watch to tell you how it works. Helicopters are amazing vehicles. They can land in spots where other modes of transport can go. They are agile and can be used for fighting they are a great invention.
